STERIS Corporation - Helping to provide a healthier today and a safer tomorrow.

STERIS Health, Safety & Environmental Excellence

World Class Safety Excellence is the strategy behind all Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) initiatives. At STERIS, Safety Excellence is interwoven in all our activities via Associates working together to reduce or eliminate incidents. We have programs to ensure that all facilities and service teams, including those recently acquired, work toward OSHA's best-in-class standards for injury/illness incidents. STERIS is exceptionally proud of its workplace safety accomplishments and our Associates and teams who continually deliver methodologies to achieve our Goal of Zero injuries, illnesses, spills, and non-conformances to compliance requirements.

With a solid base of management commitment and Associate involvement, STERIS is well-positioned to encourage employee ownership of our strong safety culture. To accomplish this task for locations within the United States, STERIS has chosen the Occupational Safety & Health Administration’s (OSHA) Star Level via the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). The OSHA VPP Star certification is bestowed only upon exemplary worksites with comprehensive, successful safety and health management systems and active Associate engagement. Companies in the VPP Star Program have achieved and sustained injury and illness rates at or below the national industry average of their respective industries. At these companies, managers and Associates work as a functional team to prevent incidents and eliminate associated risks or hazards. Achieving VPP Star status demonstrates to Associates and the community that we are a leader in safety and health. STERIS is proud to operate 12 U.S. facilities that have earned VPP Star certification. The balance of STERIS locations continues to work toward this achievement.

The following twelve (12) STERIS facilities have achieved acceptance by OSHA into the Voluntary Protection Program at the Star level, the highest level possible:

For locations outside of the United States, STERIS works with its business units to implement and maintain suitable HSE management systems aligned with and equivalent to the ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 voluntary standards.

The ISO 45001 standards set out the requirements for occupational health and safety management good practices for any size of organization. They provide guidance in developing a robust health and safety framework, bringing all relevant controls and processes into an appropriate management system.
